Support at Home – In‑Home Aged Care

At AB Nurses, we understand that most older people want to stay in the comfort of their own home and community for as long as possible. Our in‑home aged care services are designed to make that possible, coordinating care, supports and funding so you can live safely, independently and with dignity at home for longer.

Aged Care

What is the Support at Home program?

Support at Home is a new Australian Government in‑home aged care program that funds services for older people who want to keep living safely and independently in their own homes. It brings together previous in‑home supports into one system, with funding based on your assessed care needs and services delivered by approved providers.

Under Support at Home:

  • You are assessed through My Aged Care.
  • You are given a funding classification based on your care needs.
  • You choose an approved provider, like AB Nurses, and enter into a service agreement.
  • Together, we plan and deliver services that match your goals, preferences and budget.

If you were receiving a Home Care Package, your funding is transitioned to Support at Home on an equivalent level so you are not disadvantaged, with a “transitioned HCP” level that reflects your previous package.

Compassionate Care for Independent Living

At AB Nurses, we know many older Australians want to remain in the comfort of their own home and community for as long as possible, close to their routines, memories and sense of independence. Our role is to make that safer and easier, by coordinating in‑home supports that fit your life rather than asking you to change it.

With the new Support at Home program, getting help at home is more flexible, and we work with you to understand your goals, organise the right mix of services and make the most of your government‑funded budget. We handle the day‑to‑day details—from planning visits to explaining how your funding is used—so you can enjoy peace of mind and continue living on your own terms, with care delivered in a way that feels warm, respectful and empowering.

Funding Classifications and Budgets

Under Support at Home, each person approved for ongoing services is assigned one of eight funding classifications based on their assessed care needs. Each classification has an annual budget (indexed each July) that is managed quarterly and can be used with your chosen provider.

There are eight ongoing funding levels, with current indicative annual budgets ranging from around $10,700 up to approximately $78,000 per year, including an amount set aside for care management.

Budgets are paid quarterly, and you can carry over up to $1,000 or 10% of any unspent funds (whichever is greater) into the next quarter.

If your care needs change over time, you can request a reassessment through My Aged Care, which may place you into a higher classification with a larger budget.

Under Support at Home, each participant is allocated one of 8 funding classifications for ongoing services. These are set after your aged care assessment and provide an annual budget (indexed each July) that you can use with your chosen provider.

f you have questions about funding, assessments or how the program works in practice, you are always welcome to contact our team for guidance and support.
